It’s been a long summer of work on the latest Hockey Diaries piece (in between some other new projects) but we’re nearly there — week after next, details soon. As we wrap things up with the documentary and make plans for web-extras to go with it, this post-season phone interview with Capitals defenseman Karl Alzner resurfaced. We’d asked him to describe what Matt Hendricks was like in the locker room. His first example had to do with Alex Ovechkin’s sweatpant/jeans situation. Now, Alzner is not the first Caps player to talk about this special wardrobe event. But he did put to rest any speculation about whether they are two separate items of clothing or, in fact, one cunning hybrid. And he told a funny story about Matt Hendricks’ reaction… There’ll be some much-less-silly stuff from Hockey Diaries in the days to come, but for now: the brotherhood of the hybrid pants.
